Privacy Policy
We respect your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information, consistent with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This document is general information about our website and services. It is not legal advice. For advice about your situation, speak to a lawyer.
Who we are
This site and business are operated by Matthew James Smith, trading as Unicity AI (ABN 50 760 617 665), based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. We present publicly as Unicity. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to that business.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles as a matter of policy.

What we collect
We may collect:
- Contact and enquiry data: name, email, phone, company, and details you provide about a workflow or project.
- Communications: emails, call notes, and messages related to scoping or delivery.
- Technical data: basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, timestamps) via our hosting provider.
- Client project data: when engaged, the data needed to build and operate your automation, handled under your contract and any NDA.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health information or government identifiers) through this website. Please do not send it unless we have agreed a secure process in writing.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- respond to enquiries and run scoping calls;
- prepare quotes and deliver contracted services;
- operate, secure, and improve our website;
- meet our legal, tax, and insurance obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use website analytics or advertising trackers on this site at the time of this policy.
Cookies and similar technologies
This site stores a small preference in your browser
(localStorage, key unicity_cookie_notice_v1)
when you dismiss the cookie notice, so we do not show it again.
We load fonts from Google Fonts. Google may collect technical data (such as your IP address) when fonts are requested. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
Our site is hosted on Vercel, which processes technical logs for security and delivery. See Vercel’s Privacy Policy.
Third parties and overseas disclosure
We use service providers who process data on our behalf, including hosting, email, and, for client work, automation platforms you approve (for example, Make.com, Supabase, and cloud AI APIs). We require appropriate handling under contract where practicable.
Some of these providers store or process data outside Australia (for example, in the United States). Where that applies, we take reasonable steps consistent with APP 8 (cross border disclosure) before personal information is disclosed overseas.
Automated decision making
We do not currently use automated decision making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on individuals when operating this website or handling enquiries.
If we introduce that kind of processing, we will update this policy to explain it, including the kinds of personal information involved and the kinds of decisions made, consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
For client projects, any automated decision making is configured and operated by the client within their own systems and under their own privacy obligations. We help clients keep a human in the loop and provide ways for affected individuals to question or seek review of automated decisions.
Storage, security, and retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, tax and financial records are generally kept for at least five years). We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it, but no online system is completely secure.
Data breaches
If we become aware of a data breach involving personal information that is likely to result in serious harm, we will assess it promptly and, where required, notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Your rights
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you by emailing matt@unicityai.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first at matt@unicityai.com.au so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint to the OAIC at oaic.gov.au.
Marketing
We do not send bulk marketing from this website. If you receive service related email from us, you can ask to stop non essential messages at any time.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change, and material changes will be posted on this page.
